Lagundri Beach

Nias Island. If you are looking for a really special place, a magical spot you will never forget in your life, then come to Lagundri Beach on Nias Island, North Sumatra.

You regard yourself as what the travel agencies would call - an "individual traveller", looking for something special arranging your own flights and travel plans. Or you are a backpacker on the way through Indonesia visiting North Sumatra, you might be an archeologist or ethnologistlooking for unique cultures in the world, or an adventurer who wants to see what Pukhet, Koh Samui or Bali were about many decades ago?
Come to Lagundri Beach Bay: 3 km of golden and unspoiled sandy beach, palm trees, accommodation right at the beach, clean, peaceful, and quiet.
In the centre of Lagundri Bay is Lagundri Beach, also called Pantai Lagundri. The perfect beach for swimming, some body surfing, hanging out and enjoying the beach life many backpackers enjoyed maybe 40 years ago in Thailand. It's a great base for you to discover the island. Almost all major sites of interest can be reached from here in day trips. The sea is safe to swim, shallow waters, no shoes needed, no stone fishes etc.

Surfing on Nias Island

The south of Nias island is also a known secret to some of the great surfers of this planet, as it offers one of the best surf spots in the world: Sorake Beach. The key hole to the waves is in walking distance if you stay at Sorake Beach. Never too crowded to miss your perfect wave. Sorake hosted already big international surfing championships sponsored by Quiksilver.
At Lagundri Beach you can go to "Kiddy's Place. A fantastic spot to learn surfing and trying for the first time. No corals, waves not too high...just perfect for beginners!
